The deployment of mobile security forces in Juba County has improved security in the County, the Commissioner of Juba has said.

In the past two years, the county faced rampant land-grabbing, road ambushes, and cattle related-insecurity.

However, early this year, the national government set up a committee to investigate such cases across Central Equatorial State.

According to Commissioner Charles Wani, since President Salva Kiir designated and assigned the generals to deploy the mobile operations team, Bahr el Ghazal, Rokon, Yei Road, Jongeli and Nesitu roads have become relatively safe.

“In the first two years, we have been engaging seriously in the issue of security and most of the cases that come in security as an issue of cattle,” said Commissioner Wani.

“We have done now with the issue of cattle, and General Salva Kiir Mayradit has designated and given assignments to the generals that must be a kind of operational team which is a mobile team,” he said.

“In case of any incident or any problems occurring on one of the roads and these mobile teams are on standby, they are already at any calls.”

“Any incident that happened we automatically reach it immediately without any delay in the Bahr el Ghazal Road, Rokon Road, Yei Road, Jongeli Road and Nesitu Road have become the safest one.”

Right groups said in 2021, land-grabbing was a security threat mostly committed by senior army and national security generals in South Sudan.
