Uganda reduces single entry visa fee

Uganda has announced a reduction in entry visa fee from $100 to $50 at all its entry points.

The announcement was made last evening by the Ugandan Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control.

It says the Ugandan government is reducing single entry visa fee effective from today.

A statement by the Ministry of Interior says the move is aimed at promoting tourism sector as Uganda plans to introduce electronic visa application, which will be provided to travelers at its embassies and border points.

The Minister of Interior, Jeje Odongo, says all Ugandan immigration officers at the borders have been notified to effect the changes today.

The 50 dollars visa fee applies to all tourists and investors visiting to Uganda.

The Ugandan Export Promotion Board says an estimated 3 billion Ugandan shillings is lost each day of no trade between Uganda and South Sudan as a result of the conflict in the world’s newest nation.
