The Ministry of Health has confirmed two new cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Kampala, raising fresh concern over the spread of the deadly virus in the capital.

In a press release issued on May 25, health officials said the two patients are Ugandan health workers employed at a private health facility in Kampala.

“Two new cases of Ebola Virus Disease have been confirmed in the country,” the Ministry of Health said in the statement.

The ministry said both patients have been admitted to a designated treatment unit where they are receiving specialized medical care.

“Both patients have been admitted to the designated treatment unit and are now receiving care,” the ministry stated.

Health authorities added that emergency response teams had already begun tracing and monitoring all individuals who may have come into contact with the infected health workers.

“All contacts linked to the confirmed cases are being listed for follow up by response teams,” according to the ministry.

Officials urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report anyone showing Ebola-related symptoms to the nearest health facility.

“Early detection and treatment greatly improve chances of survival and help prevent further spread of the disease,” the ministry added.

Dr. Olaro Charles, the Director General of Health Services, said the government was intensifying surveillance and response efforts in Kampala to contain the outbreak and prevent further transmission.

The latest infections come amid heightened monitoring by health authorities following earlier confirmed Ebola cases in the country. Public health experts warn that rapid detection, isolation of patients, and contact tracing remain critical in stopping the spread of the virus.
