Traffic police imposes SSP20,000 fee on vehicles exiting South Sudan

The Director-General of National Traffic Police has issued a directive stating that vehicles traveling to other countries and states are required to pay a fee of 20,000 South Sudanese Pounds.

The directive, issued on November 4, 2023, by General Major General Kon John Akot, instructs all chief inspectors at national bus stations to enforce this order.

“This order is cited as standing order No 1 to all chief inspector of National Bus Parks stations; you are directed to issue travelling document to the vehicle going to other countries and states with payment of SSP 20,000,” read the order by General Akot.

Gen. Akot, has also instructed police personnel to record the names of passengers, vehicle registration numbers, and final destinations.

His directive stated that any traffic violations will be subject to punishment, with offenders being required to pay a fine not exceeding 10,000 South Sudanese Pounds.

This highlights the authorities’ commitment to ensuring adherence to traffic laws and regulations.
