Kineti River in Torit. (-)

Police in Torit of Eastern Equatoria State are investigating the mysterious death of a 20-year-old man whose body was found along a river on Tuesday.

Torit Mayor Mustapha Albino said the victim went to take a bath in the Kineti River before being discovered dead 9 hours later.

Mayor Albino said the cause of the death is yet to be established.

However, he said a medical examination report indicates that the deceased had a wound around his eye and some blood in the mouth.

Mustapha says police officers are investigation the cause of the incident, vows justice if any perpetrator is involved.

“Yes, it is true that we got a body yesterday (Tuesday) in the morning along the Kineti River, when one of the CID members called me that they found a body along this side of the water.”

“We sent our police, that is the CID to go and investigate on the matter. The investigation is going on, then I am sure we are going to file the case, but this is the first of its kind.”

On February 14, 2024, a young boy aged 10 years was crushed to death by a falling tree after he went to fetch water at the same Kineti River.

Torit Mayor Mustapha Albino said the tree had been weakened by storm and heavy rain hours before the incident.
