President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called on residents of Central Equatoria State to remain calm as the government works with Uganda to peacefully resolve a long-standing border dispute.

The President made the remarks in Juba on Wednesday after receiving resolutions from the recent South Sudan–Uganda cross-border meeting presented by Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony.

In a post on the official page of the Office of the President, Kiir welcomed the resolutions and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the Joint Technical Border Committee to resolve outstanding boundary issues through dialogue, technical engagement, and existing bilateral agreements.

Governor Adil said state officials recently visited Kajo-Keji County, where they encouraged local communities to remain calm and avoid actions that could escalate tensions as South Sudan and Uganda work toward a lasting solution.

He added that the meeting emphasized the need to reactivate and fast-track the work of the Joint Technical Border Committees to accelerate border demarcation and implement agreed resolutions.

Governor Adil further said President Kiir directed the state government to intensify voter registration awareness and civic education campaigns ahead of the country’s forthcoming elections.
