Author : | Published: Friday, December 9, 2016

Authorities in both Tonj and Gok states have resolved to address insecurity at their boundaries through disarmament.

Other issues include maintaining peace and security at the common borders, immediate arrest of suspected criminals as well as returning looted cattle to their rightful owners, and compensation for loss of lives.

The Minister of Information in Tonj, Adit Malek, says a delegation from Gok state led by the Governors have agreed to amicably solve several issues.

Mr Malek told Eye Radio that the two sides addressed the issue of disarmament and also how to regulate movement of cattle between the two states.

A joint border committee formed after the creation of 28 states has been asked to finalize its work on defining the boundaries.

Tonj and Gok state officials also recommended that a peace conference to address all the issues raised will be held in the near future to strengthen relations between the two states.
