Authorities in Morobo County, Central Equatoria State, have said three individuals who were recently allegedly abducted by opposition forces operating in the area, escaped from captivity.

According to a statement issued by the County Commissioner and published on the county’s official Facebook page, the returnees include a school pupil abducted from Aworo during a night-time raid on villages, as well as two brothers who were reportedly taken from separate locations.

The survivors told local authorities that their personal belongings were confiscated during the abduction. They also recounted being moved from place to place for several days before finding an opportunity to escape and return home safely.

County officials welcomed the returnees and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any security threats or suspicious activities to the authorities.

Morobo County has experienced recurring insecurity in recent months, with reports of abductions, displacement of civilians, and attacks on villages forcing many residents to flee their homes.
