South Sudan Secondary School examinations gets underway tomorrow. Over 13,000 candidates will sit for the exams in some 111 centers countrywide.

The National Examinations’ Council says preparations for the national exercise are set.

The National Minister of Education will ring the bell at Suppiri Secondary School 8:30 in the morning to mark the start of the national examinations.

Christian Religious Education and Islamic Religion are the first subjects they will sit.

Out of over 13,000 candidates, 9,000 are boys and about 4,000 are girls, according to Lul Ruei Dhol, Secretary for Examinations.

Thousands of the candidates are those who have been displaced by the violence, particularly in Upper Nile, Unity and Jonglei states.

Two weeks ago, the Council had announced that the displaced candidates sit their secondary school leaving exams in their respective IDP camps whereby centers have been set up.

Mr. Dhol assured the students that the mistakes that happened last year will not be repeated this year.

Last year, examination papers arrived late in some centers. Other schools complained that they missed some examination papers.

The exams will end on July 14, 2014.
