SPLA dismissses reports on secret military camps

Author : | Published: Tuesday, December 23, 2014

The SPLA Spokesperson, Colonel Philip Aguer has dismissed reports that three secret military camps have been found in Eastern Equatoria State.

Recently the media had reported that the military settlements were uncovered in Lobonok Payam, Nimule town and Jie area, a disputed area between Jonglei and Eastern Equatoria States.

Colonel Aguer says the SPLA forces have been patrolling the state and there were no hidden military camps.

“There is no camp discovered and there is no any person that has been found sitting under any tree. Even for one day. That is just a lie. The SPLA has been going to those areas and nobody has been found wherever. They are people that are spreading lies and the SPLA forces are hunting for them.” He said.

He told Eye Radio that the reports are propaganda meant to create panic amongst the public.

Aguer said the army is still patrolling the area.

“If they are anywhere the SPLA forces are patrolling all these areas. There are no any rebels in these areas. That is just propaganda to scare the civil population and a cover up for criminals.”
