The National Police Service says Police Commissioners in the ten States have been directed to protect the public and their property during the Christmas celebrations.
Addressing the Police in Juba today, the Deputy Inspector-General, Lieutenant-General, Andrew Koul Nyoun, says good number of forces have been deployed in the national capital Juba.
“All the state police commissioners have been fully directed to protect people and their properties in their respective states in accordance with overall security plan.” Nyuon said.
“Juba has been divided into five zones with high ranking officer in- charge of the join forces which have been deployed” he added, “a central operational center will work on 24 hours basis to receive and share information with zonal commanders.”
General Koul said any police officer found involved in illicit practices during Christmas and the New Year celebrations will be punished.
“Drunkenness in uniform will be considered as serious misconduct one important warning .No shooting, no shooting, no shooting during Christmas and the New Year celebrations shall be allowed. Any violation will lead to legal measures; the emergency call hotline triple 7 or 777 will be on service 24 hours basis. The public is advice to make the best use of it.” Nyuon urged.
Central Equatoria State the Police Commissioner, Major-General Henry Danima urged the forces to be vigilant while conducting patrols during Christmas celebrations.
