There were fresh clashes between the government and the SPLA In opposition forces in Renk County of Upper Nile state this morning, according to SPLA spokesperson, Colonel Phillip Aguer.

He accused the opposition forces of launching the attack on the Duk Duk district in the county.

“Yes from yesterday the SPLA forces in Renk County were monitoring the movement of Riek Machar’s forces in a border area called Tibol,” Col Aguer told Eye Radio’s Dawn program this morning.

“And this morning, those forces attacked SPLA forces camp in Duk-duk and the battle continued for few minutes but the SPLA now are in control of the area and the attack was repelled.”

No casualties have been reported.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the SPLA-In opposition, Brigadier General Lul Ruai Koang said he is not aware of any fighting that is taking place in Renk County.
