South Sudan is attending the Global Summit to end sexual violence in conflict regions in the world.

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin is heading the delegation. The summit is taking place in London.

Organizers say it will tackle a serious problem that has happened in nearly every conflict in history.

The Ministry says Dr Barnaba Marial will talk about sexual violence that happened on both sides during the crisis in South Sudan.

“The minister will talk about what happened regarding sexual harassment that is committed by the rebels in areas they attack and what the government has done,” said Ambassador Mawien Makol, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson.

“I think it will make the world to understand all kind of violence and why it has happened.”

The summit will be used to standardize the investigation and documentation of sex crimes in war zones.

The summit was opened today by actress and UN special envoy Angelia Jolie.

Jolie said she wanted to dedicate the conference to a rape victim she recently interviewed in Bosnia, who felt so humiliated by what had happened to her that she could not even tell her own son.

“There is no disgrace in being a survivor of sexual violence,” she said.
