The National Police Service has introduced 16 buses into the public transport sector.

The vehicles will operate within Juba town and on the Juba-Nimule road.

They will be managed by Imatong Public Transport Company Limited, which is owned by the police service.

“The police leadership has attended a launching ceremony of the first public transport company owned by the South Sudan services,” said Colonel James Monday, police spokesman.

“It is a registered company to provide the transport services to both the police personnel and the general public.”

Col Monday said the profit generated from the public transport business will be used to improve police activities.

He said the vehicles will start plying different routes tomorrow under private sector regulations.
