PM Benjamin Netanyahu invites President Kiir to Isreal

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday invited President Salva Kiir to the Middle East country.

Mr. Netanyahu extended the invitation to President Kiir while having a sideline meeting during the United Nations’ 78th General Assembly in New York, US, the Presidential Press Unit reported.

The Presidential Press Unit reported that President Kiir was pleased to accept the invitation without mentioning when his visit would be.

If this happens, it will be his second visit since he held talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in 2011.

The invitation comes two months after South Sudan and the State of Israel signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries in several key sectors.

President Kiir’s Press Unit cited Prime Minister Netanyahu as saying he is determined to strengthen ties with African countries and increase cooperation in innovation, agriculture, food security, and water.

He reportedly commended the African Union’s accession to the G20 as a permanent member and expressed Israel’s readiness to cooperate and contribute to African stability and prosperity.
