An international agency says 13,000 children have been screened for malnutrition in Awerial camp for Internally Displaced Persons.

Thousands of civilians from Bor are seeking protection in Awerial town of Lakes state after fighting erupted in Bor town last month.

An official with Plan International, Lasuba Charles, told Eye Radio’s Dawn show that many children are underfed.

Mr. Lasuba said the children will be supplied with cereal Soya Beans to help boost their resistance to diseases.

“We are going to address three major areas of intervention,” said Mr Lasuba, “one is going to be water and sanitation, nutrition majorly.”

He said the program will also include residents of Awerial and the IDPs.

Mr. Lasuba said one of the major challenges the agency is facing is the daily increase in the number of IDPs in the camp.
