The commissioner of Kapoeta North County in Eastern Equatoria State say one person was killed and 150 cows were raided by armed youth from a neighboring area on Friday.

Emmanuel Lolimo said the attack occurred in the Pokur cattle camp which hosts pastoralists from the three Payams of Kopeta North County.

Lolimo said another young man was injured during the clashes.

“On the 18th of this month an attack was carried out to a cattle camp called Pokur. This incident happened after nearly ten months when a similar incident was carried out by Buya Community and the Murle,” he said.

“But this time it is carried out by Buya alone. In the process of the fight, one youth from our side was killed another was injured and they took 150 cattle.”

Commissioner Lilimo appealed to the local youth not to go for a revenge attack.

“We urged the youth not to go for revenge and they should continue grazing normally and only act in self-defense”.
