“The Late General Nichola Dhieyier Dak dedicated his life to the cause and liberation of this country at a very tender age; he fought for this country. He left behind a void difficult to fill, but he will always remain alive in our memory.” — Dr. Pal Chol, extract from Tribute to the Ministry of Defense and SSPDF Command

I write to sincerely thank the National Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs, CDF, members of the staff command, all the officers, SSPDF Military Band, NCOs and men who, from day one to the end, stood firm with the family of the Late Major General Nichola Dhieyier Dak who was promoted to the eternal glory by the Almighty God.

I saw the love, harmony and camaraderie present in the army barracks; when the body was taken there for the inspection of the guard of Honor, the same in the church and at the Martyrs’ Burial Cemetery, where the Late was accorded a decent burial with a 21-gun salute and State Honors.

I want to thank you all from the bottom of heart. I want to thank all those who attended the last funeral rite. Your moving speeches, encouragements and great eulogies gave comfort and strength to the bereaved family.

What you did was not a flattery, it was what the Late Commander deserved. The Late General dedicated his life to the cause and liberation of this country at a very tender age; he fought body and soul for this country.

It was a love manifested by the hardwork and spirit of brotherhood. The family will never forget that. It will remain in records for eternity.

As one the pillars and a revolutionary in the war of liberation struggle, the Late Gen Nichola was a unifying person; a man who would socialize with anybody; and was helpful. He left behind a void difficult to fill; but he would always remain alive in our memory.

Rest in peace, Uncle Gat Dhieyier!
