The government of Central Equatoria State has signed a partnership agreement with Ethiopia’s Federal Housing Corporation to boost housing development and improve urban infrastructure in Juba.

The agreement was signed in Juba on Saturday and focuses on housing construction, infrastructure upgrades, and urban planning to help meet the growing demand for housing in the state capital.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Governor Emmanuel Adil said the partnership is part of the state government’s efforts to transform Juba into a modern and well-planned city.

He said the agreement builds on the strong relationship between South Sudan and Ethiopia and will help speed up improvements in housing and infrastructure services.

Governor Adil added that the state government is committed to ensuring the immediate implementation of the planned projects.

He described the initiative as an important step towards addressing urban development challenges and creating investment opportunities in the housing sector.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopia’s Federal Housing Corporation, Rashad Kemal, said the partnership goes beyond housing construction and aims to support sustainable urban growth.

Kemal said the corporation will provide technical expertise and modern housing technology to help implement the projects successfully.

He added that the first phase of the project will focus on Central Equatoria State before expanding to other cities and towns across South Sudan.

The partnership marks the beginning of direct cooperation between the two sides on housing and infrastructure projects aimed at addressing rapid urbanization, improving city planning, and promoting investment in South Sudan’s real estate sector.

State officials say the initiative is expected to improve access to housing and support long-term urban development and economic growth.
