A renowned South Sudanese lawyer has urged the civil society and the faith-based groups to take active part in drafting the permanent constitution, in order to initiate democracy process.

Advocate Yohannis Yor Ajawin, says the groups known as the non-state actors should be part of the implementation of the agreement, because they were part of the negotiations.

He was addressing workshop organized by the Senior Management of the Civil Society Organization in Juba on the Implementation of the Peace Agreement.

You are the actors, your signature in this agreement is not less than any other person’s signature, you are stakeholders and you must stick to it. So coming to this permanent constitution, it is very clear that this permanent constitution should at least initiate democracy and federal process,” he said.

Mr. Ajawin urged the civil society organizations to divide themselves into clusters in order to closely monitor the implementation of the different issues enshrined in the agreement.

He says the civil society should raise any grievances or issues of concern to the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission during its monthly meeting.
