The Mayardit Women Hospital in Rumbek has stopped operations due to fuel shortage.

The work in the hospital stopped just a week after it was inaugurated.

The new hospital was officially opened by President Salva Kiir last week.

The Director General of the hospital, Dr. Paul Ater, told Eye Radio that the hospital will start working as soon as the government provides fuel.

“The capacity of the generator is four drums of fuel daily and it costs 5,600 pounds per day,” said Dr Ater.

Dr. Ater says the authorities concerned are working on the issues to solve the problem so that they start operating the hospital again.
