The National Communication Authority will soon advertise 80 job vacancies as a part of the integration of Gateway staff into the authority, the Board of Directors has said.

The Chairman of the Board, Prof. John Apuruot Akec says a private company will be contracted to recruit the staff.

He says staff affected by the process are encouraged to reapply.

South Sudan Gateway was launched in 2019 by President Salva Kiir to allow the country to improve its international communication.

A gateway is a piece of networking hardware used in telecommunications for telecommunications networks that allows data to flow from one discrete network to another.

Professor Akec says the decision came after President Kiir decreed the return of Gateway to the National Communication Authority.

“We discussed three main agendas, one is to deliver on major changes that have been taken by the authority to implement the presidential decree to take National Gateway back to NCA. The procedures, and also how we are going to integrate the staff and status within the authority,” said Prof. Akec.

“We are also deliberating the harmonization of staff within the authority, and include also the integration of staff from the Gateway to be part of the authority,” he said.

“There will be about 80 positions that will be advertised. In fact, they are accommodated within the structure of the authority so there was over-employment.”

“What the authority has done is to see those who can’t be taken to reapply for jobs within the authority and compete because those positions will be advertised and all will be given a chance to be interviewed. Authority is looking for a professional recruiter.”
