The National Bureau of Standards will soon be able to professionally test food for public consumption after receiving mobile quality testing kits from the World Food Program.

The testing kits contain equipment which is used for testing grains.

“The equipment will help the bureau to ensure that food grains distributed to the public are safe for consumption,” WFP Public Information Officer George Fominyen told Eye Radio.

Mr. Fominyen said with this equipment, the National Bureau will be able to test grains within the local communities where it is needed.

He also said it will save time in the process of quality checking.

Before the acquisition of the testing equipment, locally produced and imported grains were sampled and taken to the neighboring countries like Kenya, and Uganda for testing.
