A young boy whose emotional plea for medical assistance went viral on social media has arrived in Juba and is set to undergo surgery after receiving support from several well-wishers.

Manyang Machar arrived in the capital on Thursday, accompanied by family members, following a public fundraising campaign that attracted assistance from individuals and organizations across the country.

Speaking to Eye Radio on Friday morning, a family representative, Matoch Chadar, said Manyang has already undergone a medical assessment at Nile Specialist Hospital.

According to Chadar, doctors are expected to perform the operation next week, although the exact date will be communicated after further consultations.

“Manyang has been assessed by the doctors, and we are now waiting for the medical team to confirm the date for the surgery,” Chadar said.

He expressed gratitude to all individuals and groups who responded to the family’s appeal and contributed toward the boy’s treatment.

Among those who offered support is the Manyang Disability Foundation, which facilitated the boy’s travel to Juba. SPLM Secretary-General Akol Paul Koordit also pledged to cover the medical expenses, including the cost of the operation, while the Tonj Graduates Union committed to supporting the family’s accommodation during their stay in the capital.

The development comes days after Eye Radio highlighted Manyang’s plight in a story that drew widespread public attention.

In a video shared online earlier this week, the young boy appealed for help to seek specialized medical treatment for a worsening health condition that had left him in pain and unable to access adequate care.

The video quickly circulated on social media, prompting calls for assistance from members of the public, community groups, and political leaders.

His arrival in Juba marks a significant step toward receiving the medical intervention his family says he urgently needs. Doctors are expected to determine the final treatment plan following ongoing assessments at Nile Specialist Hospital.
