The Executive Chief of Mangkaro Boma in Mangala Payam of Juba County said the body of a 24-year-old man has been discovered in the area after he went missing for five days.
Zakeyo Legge said the victim was declared missing on Monday after failing to return home, adding that he was found dead Thursday with a bullet wound in his head.
“This person was in the market on boda-boda on Monday, and I don’t know if he carried a person or what happened. Then in the morning, he didn’t show up at home,” the local official narrated.
Chief Zakeyo said the community members launched a search mission and discovered his body in the bush.
He said they have reported the incident to the police in Mangala Payam.
According to him, Mankaro is now a ghost village after residents fled the attack by unidentified gunmen.
“We then wondered where he was. So, we looked for him together with the youth, we didn’t find but there is that side of my Boma, we went and found his body there.”
“We found his hands tied and shot in the head. We found his body yesterday in a Boma called Mangkaro. We opened a case with the Police in Mangala.”
