One young man was killed and 6 others wounded during an armed raid on Independence Day eve in Uror County of Jonglei State, an official has said.

Simon Duol, the County Commissioner, said the armed youth also wounded an SPLA soldier.

“Youth from the area are helping the SPLA in the hunt for cattle raiders,” he told Eye Radio.

“Up to now, the people are after the cattle and the boy has been buried. It’s a two-hour walk in the area called Juwad.”

On Tuesday, the commissioner for neighboring Pibor County told Eye Radio that Lou Nuer youth were heading towards Lokwangule Payam in the county.

Last week, a youth leader was killed in the Pool Bura area of Uror County, when armed men raided his cattle camp.
