Lakes and Central Equatoria governments have vowed to bring to justice the culprits behind the killing of three men along Terekeka-Rumbek Road last week 31st December 2022.

Over the weekend, Mayen Mayor Majok, Madeng Mayor Majok and Tarer Akum Adut left Juba for Yirol East County via Tali in Terekeka County on two motorbikes.

According to William Koji, the minister of information in Lakes state, the three men were ambushed and killed upon approaching Mundari Bura.

Their motorbikes were also looted.

Koji urged authorities in Central Equatoria state to bring to book the culprits who recently ambushed and killed three men from Lakes state.

He appealed to the two bordering communities between the two states to stay calm.

“They were ambushed and killed and their properties were taken. So, it is very unfortunate, and we are asking the Government of Central Equatoria State to at least bring the culprits to book,” said Koji.

“We ask the communities of the two states to be calm because the two commissioners of Awerial and Terekeka are together in place of the scene to make sure such incidents do not repeat themselves and also these culprits are brought to book.”

Minister Koji also added that the criminal act is an isolated case and should not interfere with the peaceful coexistence between Lakes and Central Equatoria states.

For its part, the government of Central Equatoria state says the culprits will face justice over the killing of three men.

In a press release seen by Eye Radio’s news team this morning, the government of Central Equatoria state promised to use security apparatus to search for the bandits and arrest them to face justice.

Emanuel Adil Anthony also conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family and the leadership of Lakes state on the matter.
