Five people killed in Wau police protests

Five people have been killed and five others wounded in a police strike over unpaid salaries in Wau, the capital of Western Bhar el-Ghazal State.

Our correspondent in Wau says bodies of the deceased are in the mortuary at Wau hospital.

He says two were soldiers, two policemen and one pregnant woman.

They were killed when the army tried to contain the strike that started yesterday. Random shooting continued into the night.

Deputy Governor Zakaria Joseph has confirmed the casualties.
