The Commissioner of Juba County says one person was killed and several houses burned in an attack by suspected cattle keepers on Jopa village yesterday.

Stephen Wani told Eye Radio that the police arrived at the area when the attackers had already escaped.

He says cattle keepers pose a security threat in the area.

“The group of people came and started shooting, looting and burning down the community houses and so on. This phenomenon of our cattle keepers is something that needs to be addressed. If it is not addressed, these cattle keepers will continue to destabilize the people.” He said.

Wani says the police are still searching for the suspects.
