President Salva Kiir on Monday night issued a series of presidential decrees affecting both national and state-level leadership.
The decrees were announced on the state-run SSBC.
In Western Bahr el Ghazal State, Kiir relieved Emmanuel Primo Okello, a member of the SPLM-IO, as governor and appointed Sherif Daniel Sherif as the new governor. Sherif is also a member of the SPLM-IO.
Kiir also made changes in the South Sudan Revenue Authority, removing Taban Abel Aguek as Deputy Commissioner-General and appointing John Mading Bol Makuach in his place.
He then went on to relieve Wek Mamer Kuol, Dr. Joseph Geng Akech, and Mary Nawai Martin from their respective roles as Ministers of Justice and Constitutional Affairs; Youth and Sports; and Parliamentary Affairs, respectively.
He subsequently appointed Dr. Joseph Geng Akech as Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, and Mary Nawai Martin as the new Minister of Youth and Sports.
Meanwhile, Kiir reappointed Dr. Wek Mamer Kuol as the new Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.
The president also made a new appointment, naming Sarah Peter Nyot as Counsel General in the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
