President Salva Kiir Mayardit has swapped Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Michael Makuei Lueth with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Wek Mamer Kuol in a Republican Decree announced on state-owned SSBC on Thursday.

Under the decree, Dr. Wek Mamer was appointed Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, replacing Michael Makuei, who was reassigned to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.

Michael Makuei had served as Justice Minister since November 2025, when he replaced Joseph Geng Akech. Before that appointment, he served for several years as Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services and as government spokesperson.

Dr. Wek Mamer, meanwhile, had been serving as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs before his appointment to head the Justice Ministry.

The changes take effect immediately.
