President Salva Kiir has dissolved the Crisis Management Committee and transferred it to the Office of the President.

The Crisis Management Committee was formed last year to respond to the security and the humanitarian needs of the public following the Mid-December incident.

The committee was chaired by the Vice President, James Wani Igga, with membership of some cabinet officials.

The Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Ateny Wek Ateny, told Eye Radio that the committee will operate within the Presidency.

“The Special Committee is dissolved because …[it] has come to an end. That is the reason,” he said.

Last month, the Deputy Chairperson of the committee, Daniel Awet Akot said some members of the subcommittees were being investigated over reports of mismanagement of funds.

He said some of the officials were also suspended for misconduct.

“What is being done by the crisis management is being done now by the department of the government. This has clear accountability.”

Mr. Ateny said that the Office of the President will continue to initiate the same objectives of the Crisis Management Committee.

The committee was also in-charge of salary payment to the organized forces and civil servants across the country.
