About 74 youths from Kapoeta and Budi Counties in Eastern Equatoria state are being trained in entrepreneurship, innovation, and business creativity.

According to the Women Advancement Organization, a national non-governmental organization, the first phase of the ten-day training of trainees began on 11th April.

It is part of the four-year project funded by USAID, through Education Development Center, or EDC, and is implemented by Women Advancement Organization.

Suzan Pasquale, the Executive Director of the Women Advancement Organization says the first phase of the project is focusing on the training of trainers on basic education modules using both audio and video.

“We have started by training seventy-four youth as Trainer of Trainees this one is a basic education for those who have never gone to school,” Suzan told Eye Radio from Kapoeta.

“They are going to be learning basic education, work ready now a module that has been recorded on audio and video about twenty-six modules,

“In these modules, the learners have been taught how they can be innovative to create that business, how to be goal oriented and creative in your own business”.

Suzan went on to say the youth will be given start-up capital to start a business either cash or material at the end of the training.

“They are going to be given start-up capital because those who could be having computer centers will be supported if they want more computers,” said Suzan.

“Those doing hotel management as long as you are in the group you will be supported either cash or with material that they need,

“Those who are already doing carpentry and they are interested in building on that then we help them either with cash or material and tools that they need”.
