Justice: Traditional courts set up in Unity’s Leer

Author : | Published: Saturday, September 13, 2014

The Executive Director of Leer County in Unity State, Juma Keah Puok, has formed 16 payam courts to rule on cases in the community.

He says the traditional courts will have five traditional judges and members in every payam to oversee court proceedings in local areas.

Mr. Puok says he has set up the courts in order to take the town to the people rather than centralize all the administrative services in Leer town.

He says the committee that has been formed to oversee the work will refer difficult cases to the overall chairperson of the councils based in Leer town.

Mr. Keah Puok says members the committee will start their work next week.
