Authorities in Jonglei State are set to hand over twenty more abductees to Greater Pibor Administrative this week.

The state government has been negotiating the release of women and children taken to captivity by local raiders, who have been accused of orchestrating the attack on Pibor Administrative Area in December 2022.

The first recovery was of 68 abductees handed to Jonglei government in Bor town on Wednesday, January 11.

According to the state information minister, John Samuel Manyuon, the 20 abductees will be airlifted to Pibor by the UN children agency, UNICEF.

Minister Manyuon said the total number of recovered abductees to 88.

However, he said, the leadership has identified several locations of more abductees, but they are yet to get them.

This is as the authorities are still engaging with the abductors to hand over the rest of the survivors to the state government.
