The SPLM in Opposition has welcomed the redeployment of Tiger battalion outside the capital Juba.

Yesterday, the Commander of the Presidential Guards, General Marial Chanuong, said more than 3,000 soldiers of the battalion had been redeployed in two locations outside Juba.

General Marial said the soldiers left in Juba are part of the security forces that will remain in the town during the transitional period.

The spokesperson for advance team of SPLM IO in Juba said the withdrawal of the forces will help in the implementation of the agreement.

William Ezekiel says the transportation arrangement for their forces will be completed today.

“If they have really withdrawn, we thank them because this is for the benefit of the people of South Sudan,” said Mr Ezekiel.

“Dr. Riek Machar will come to Juba and everything will be okay.”

Mr. William Ezekiel says that they are expecting their forces to arrive in Juba within this week.

The military spokesman of the SPLM in Opposition said in a statement on Tuesday that they were still seeking approval from the Ethiopian government to take their guns through Gambella to Malakal.

They would gather in Malakal to be flown to Juba.
