ICRC refutes attack on a convoy in Rokon

Author : | Published: Monday, December 12, 2016

The International Committee of the Red Cross has denied a report that its trucks were looted in Rokon County, Jubek State, over the weekend.

County Commissioner Simon Muzee has told Eye Radio that unidentified group of armed men had attacked a 17-truck convoy of ICRC.

However, the humanitarian group refutes the claim.

“ICRC vehicles were not involved in any incident of such kind,” a representative told Eye Radio via phone this morning.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has dismissed the reports that an aid convoy was attacked along Jubek-Amadi road.

It says it has had no reports of humanitarian trucks being shot at en route to Mundri.

In a statement sent to Eye Radio, UNOCHA says it does, however, confirm that a humanitarian convoy is en route to Mundri.

It calls on all parties to allow free, safe, and unhindered access for the convoy to proceed.
