The Abyei Special Administrative Area has described former Chief Administrator Kuol Alor Kuol as a patriotic man following his death on Saturday in Kenya.

According to Yohana Akol Ngor, the Minister of Information and Communication in the Abyei Special Administrative Area, the former chief administrator died at a private hospital in Nairobi, where he had been receiving treatment. He did not disclose the illness.

“This morning we were shocked by the news of his passing. It is a sad and unexpected loss for the Ngok community and for many people around the world,” Minister Akol said in an interview with Eye Radio.

He described the late Kuol as a patriotic man and liberator who served his community with dedication.

“The late Kuol Alor Kuol was a patriotic man who served his country, South Sudan, from the time of the liberation struggle until his work in the judiciary. He left a strong impact in our hearts and among his colleagues, especially in the history of the SPLA,” he said.

Late Kuol served as the second Chief Administrator of the Abyei Special Administrative Area after being appointed in February 2017. He later left office in June 2020.

“We pray that God gives strength and comfort to everyone during this difficult time,” Akol said.
