Bor Commissioner bans social activities, imposes SSP 500,000 fine for violators

The Commissioner of Bor County in Jonglei State has banned all social gatherings, including wrestling, traditional dances and other related activities, until the end of the farming season.

The order, issued yesterday, also bans playing dominoes, playing cards and other pastime activities.

Commissioner Samuel Ateny Pech said the suspension of social activities, which took effect yesterday, will remain in force until the farming season is completed.

According to the directive, anyone found participating in the banned activities will be taken to government farms to work.

It also imposes a fine of 500,000 South Sudanese Pounds on anyone caught violating the order.

The order has been copied to senior state and local officials, including the Acting Governor of Jonglei State, security organs, and administrative authorities across Bor County.
