Gov’t service cluster unveils policies on students’ admission, innovation

The government service cluster on Thursday unveiled two education policies on students’ admission to various universities and innovation.

In a meeting chaired by Vice President for Service Cluster, Hussein Abdalbagi Akol, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Gabriel Changson Chang says the policy aims to upgrade student skills.

He says this includes subjecting the students in the first year to English courses.

“The two policies are governing the operation that governs the high education policy in terms of organizing how the universities and the Ministry of High Education should conduct their activities in terms of admission for students in universities requirement in term of quality insurance so we can have quality graduate,” said Changson.

“We are going to introduce what we call pool admission that the first-year student will be in one group,” he said.

According to Minister Changson, this framework will guide the educational institution to deliver quality education.

“After the first year, the students will be distributed according to their specialization as part of their performance. The other police are Science and Technology and innovation policy framework,” Changson said.

“We want to make sure that these policies will guide our universities on how to deliver their education and how to equip their students with practical knowledge,” he said.

According to the Minister of Higher Education, the draft policy will be presented to the Council of Ministers for approval.
