The government’s delegation to the peace talks in Ethiopia has returned.

Addressing the media upon their arrival at Juba International Airport, the spokesperson of the delegation, Michael Makuei, says the talks have been going on well despite the outstanding issue on the power of the prime minister.

“It is worth mentioning that we have agreed on some of the issues, but the question of consistencies of the Prime minister has been all the time an obstacle because in terms of the governance definitely you start with the office of the President and the other offices including the office of the Prime minister. Based on that the talks has been call off, we arrive today and we hope that we will be in a position to go back and continue talking in the next session.” The government Spokesperson said.

Mr. Makuei also said the question of the change of mediation team and the venue of the talks is left to the IGAD Heads of States to decide.

“Well of course the question of the change of the venue and even the change of mediation is still holding. We have raised this but this will have to be decided by the IGAD Heads of states and Government, because they are the very people who decided on the 27TH of December 2013 that the mediators should be Ambassador Seyum Mesfin, General Lazarus Simbeyo and General Mustafa Dabi .They are the one who decided that the venue should be in Ethiopia Adis Ababa.” Said Makuei.

The talks will resume on the 16th of this month in Ethiopia.
