The Governor of Central Equatoria State said the violence in Gondokoro area of Juba County, which killed three people this week, has been brought under control.

Emmanuel Adil Anthony said he has directed the Commissioner of Juba to resolve the communal tension resulting from the killing of the three civilians.

Governor Adil blamed the violence on the presence of herders in the area.

He said his leadership took strict security measures, leading to the evacuation of the herders from the area.

“We have taken security measures, and since yesterday I have directed the Commissioner of Juba County and he went to the scene and arrested the situation and so far the Gondokoro and that area is under control,” the governor told reporters in Juba on Wednesday.

Around 90 percent of the cattle herders have already moved out of the area, with some of them heading towards Gemeza area, south of Juba County, Adil estimated.

“I can confirm to you that over 80 or even 90% of much of cattle in southern Juba in this of the east have moved and they are beyond Gemeza.”

“So, we have two remaining cattle camp they will move so call for the publica to be patience and to cooperate with the government.”

The governor added that the government will expedite the exercise to ensure that all cattle keepers leave the county in the coming days.
