Speaking to traffic police personnel, Gen. Saeed expressed concern over incidents in which traffic officers were seen fighting with motorists and members of the public, saying such behavior undermines the image of the police service.

The police chief stressed that officers should handle disputes calmly and professionally, rather than engaging in physical altercations.

“Traffic officers, while on duty, I request you to maintain professionalism and avoid engaging in fights on the roads,” Gen. Saeed said.

He added that some of the videos circulating online show officers being overpowered during confrontations, a situation he said should be avoided.

“I have seen videos circulating on social media showing traffic officers involved in altercations, with some being thrown to the ground. If you know you lack the strength, why engage in such fights?” he said.

The Inspector General also instructed traffic officers to avoid gathering unnecessarily at one location while on duty, saying their presence should be focused on managing traffic and responding effectively to incidents.

On the handling of road accidents and traffic violations, Gen. Saeed encouraged officers to allow those involved to first attempt resolving minor disputes among themselves.

“When a traffic violation or accident occurs, allow the parties involved to attempt resolving the matter independently. If they fail to reach an agreement, then proceed to open a case and bring them to the main office for proper handling,” he said.

The remarks are part of ongoing efforts by police leadership to improve professionalism, public conduct, and service delivery within the traffic police department.

Gen. Saeed emphasized that maintaining discipline and professionalism remains essential to building public trust and ensuring law enforcement officers effectively carry out their duties on the country’s roads.
