The President should select a young person as his Vice President, representatives of youth forums have told Eye Radio.

“A young Vice President will move development forward and fight corruption in the country,” said Flora Lukudu, a member of Greater Upper Nile Bhar El Ghazal and Equatoria Youth Association.

“Young people have the ambition to lead South Sudan with honesty.”

Ms. Lukudu believes that development “will not happen unless youth are involved.”

“We know corruption is here and there are some of the youth who want to save the nation and they have the spirit of nationalism.

“So, why doesn’t our President give a chance to young people to be part of that?”

From the Ministry of Youth, the deputy director for youth organization, Madam Tereza Modesto said she agrees that youth should be considered for political office.

“In my opinion, this Vice Presidency should be given to youth because whatever we do in this country is for our young generation. Then why can they be given the vice president now?”

Last month, President Salva Kiir dissolved his government and formed a new cabinet and the Vice President is yet to be appointed.
