Trade and commerce are the major ties between South Sudan and Sudan, says the undersecretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Charles Manyang D’Awol told Eye Radio that imports and exports between the two countries will be a vital connection, should there be an established peace.

“I think our interests with Sudan are more than any in our relations to other countries. So we need Sudan in so many things and Sudan needs us as well.”

“There is no any other place where actually what is produced in Sudan will go to; say, the cement.

“They have about 5 factories of cement, and that cement, can they export it to somewhere else except South Sudan?

Ambassador Manyang also said that peace must be established before any trade relation is enjoyed by both nations.”

He said South Sudan has a lot to offer.

“From our side, we’re going to have very may things that we will take to Sudan. For example: our fruits. when we make them economically viable, where else can we take them? We cannot take them East ward, Westwards or Southwards, because those actually are satisfied with what they have in that area of fruits.”

On Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Barnaba Marial committed to improve the current unstable relations between Sudan and South Sudan.
