The leader of Aqwelek forces, Gen. Johnson Olony will soon come to Juba once the government of South Sudan green lights his coming., the group spokesperson has said.

Major General Yusif Paulo Ngor says Olony is now part of the government and doesn’t have any problem coming to Juba.

In January 2022, the government and Kit-Gwang signed a peace agreement.

Part of the deal provided for the establishment of coordination offices in Bor, in Jonglei state, and Malakal in Upper Nile state to facilitate the reintegration of the forces into the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces.

In October last year, President Kiir asked General Johnson Olony to come to Juba to enable them to address the challenges facing the agreement.

General Ngor says their leader will come to Juba for the implementation of the security arrangements that will expedite the 2018 peace accord.

The spokesperson of the group pointed out that some of the issues that will be discussed in Juba include the integration of Aqwelek forces into the national army – SSPDF.

“The only step that remains is for the government of South Sudan to work on the security arrangement, we have containment areas that we have agreed on,”

The Commander is ready but this small arrangement that is remained whenever is done he will be in Juba,

“Our Commander, 1st Lt. Gen. Johnson Olony Thobo Dak is ready to come to Juba, but we are waiting for a signal from the government of South Sudan. Johnson will be in Juba, God willing.”

The Aqwelek Forces Spokesperson said their group welcomed the honoring of President Kiir by Collo King in Juba last week.
