At least four people including an assailant were killed and three others injured in Nyirol County by armed youth suspected to have come from Pibor Administrative Area.

Biel Jiek Lual, the Director of Information in Nyirol County Biel Jiek Lual said the incident happened on Thursday afternoon.

Jiek said the civilians were returning to Nyirol from Pibor when they were ambushed and shot at.

“The incident happened two days ago at 2 pm in Thol payam of Nyirol County. They were on their way from Pibor to Nyirol when they were attacked and the raiders killed three from our side. These attackers are from Murle because the youth killed one of them,” he told Eye Radio.

The authorities in Pibor Administrative Area could not be immediately respond to Eye Radio’s request for comment on the allegation.

The information official further said the attackers raided an unspecified number of cattle.

“They raid several cows. We don’t have a clear line of communication with authorities in the Pibor, but we call the local authority in the area.”

Jiek said he called Pibor authorities who said they have no idea about the incident.
