Five drug dealers arrested in Hai Thoura

Juba City Council arrested five people suspected to be in possession of dangerous drug cocktails at the Thoura Residential Area on Thursday.

The five men are believed to be dealing in a combination of anesthetic drugs, cocaine, and soft drinks meant to make merry of life.

Juba City Mayor, Michael Ladu Allah-Jabu said the council recorded twelve alcohol and drug abuse-related deaths in different parts of the city.

“This substance is called Ace, and it is used as an anesthetic. It penetrates the nervous system, And the use of this drug makes you lethargic for two days and it is used by inhalation,” says Allah-Jabu.

“I think that this type of drug is new in the country, and in addition to that, they use cough medicine for children, and it is mixed with soft drinks the use of these drugs for seven months causes death and we recorded twelve deaths of young men and soldiers.”

The mayor also says street children are also becoming victim of the drug. He said the city council is going to take legal measures against the arrested individuals.

“I called on youth not to use such thing and we are going to take legal measures against these five people.”

Allah-Jabu called on the security organs to crack down on harmful drugs being consumed by young people.

Medically, drug cocktails such as the one in question – can impair one’s judgment and decision-making, causing users to engage in risky behaviors.

They can also cause severe weight loss, anxiety, paranoia, and hallucinations.
