Fire has destroyed the only hospital in Twic East County in Jonglei State.

County Commissioner Dau Akoi says all the equipment in the hospital was destroyed in the fire which broke out on Wednesday.

He told Eye Radio that the fire started when an operator was turning on a generator.

“When the workers were running away from the room, immediately the fire occupied every room because it was wired with electric wires,” Mr Akoi explained.

Mr Akoi said the fire continued burning until late in the afternoon.

He said the county administration has no fire brigade unit to help put off the fire.
