Eastern Equatoria police tightens security ahead of festive season

Police in Eastern Equatoria have intensified security patrols in towns and along highways to curb criminal activities and create a safe environment during the festive season.

The State Police Commissioner Major General James Monday Enoka told Eye Radio that they deployed a total of 1 hundred and 67 joint operation forces in the State Capital Torit.

He further pointed out that several organized forces were deployed in other towns, residential areas, highways and entry points in the state.

In addition, Police Commissioner Gen Enoka says, Traffic Police Officers have been deployed to the towns and highways to manage the movement of vehicles.

“Yesterday [Wednesday] we began the implementation of our security plan to cover the festive season, Christmas and New Year by deploying our forces,” Gen. Enoka said.

“We started our work yesterday [Wednesday], day and night patrol, we deployed our forces in all the entry points,” he said.

“We have our forces ready also to make patrols on the highways so that the travel of the people is secured, and can travel freely and enjoy Christmas with their loved ones.

According to Gen Enoka, Wednesday’s patrol went well without security issues reported.

“This morning we had our security meeting to review, so we found out that there were no bad things during the last 24 hours,” he said.

“We have deployed our traffic police within the town so that they control the vehicles not to speed.

“We want to ensure that, Eastern Equatoria State enjoy the festive season. At the State level, we have deployed 167 joint operations from all the organized forces.”
